RISE IN LEGIONNAIRES' DISEASE IN NEW ENGLAND, USA
Nearly twice as many cases of Legionnaires' disease were reported in Maine, Massachusetts, and Connecticut in 2011 than in 2010. New York and Pennsylvania saw increases of 39% and 51%, respectively. Health officials considered possible reasons for the rise but have not been able to draw conclusions based on epidemiologic data.

European Legionnaires’ Disease Surveillance Network (ELDSNet)
ELDSNet, which is coordinated by ECDC, carries out surveillance of Legionnaires’ disease (the pneumonic form of legionellosis), involving all EU Member States, Iceland and Norway. It aims to identify relevant public health risks, enhance prevention of cases and monitor epidemiological trends.
